the horror budget is an old ploy . generally it turns out not quite as badly as expected . if they use this approach the result is a sigh of relief from the citizens who then fail to spot the devil in the detail and move on.

yes but both of the things you mention equal political oblivion for anyone who would dare to even try. i'd say those two stories may have been deliberately leaked for just the effect of relief (with a bounce in the next poll hopefully) i described. even swanny used the horror budget routine.

It'll be a horror budget alright especially for those on low incomes.They'll try to bribe their way back in with their last.Howard did it successfully on a couple of occaions. Where did all that money go when he was in power? Billions rolling in from the mining boom but I can't for the life of me remember any big ticket projects under Howard.Not in education, health or infrastructure.Nada.zilch,zero.
