Are We Descending Into Barbarism?
An Australian socialist group has withdrawn newspapers depicting Tony Abbott getting his throat cut by a straight razor.
The grisly Red Flag cover, which was accompanied by the headline "One cut we'd like to see, attracted more than 200 comments – most of them negative – on publisher The Socialist Alternative's Facebook page overnight.
"Oh ... not cool. I'm no fan of the LNP — policies, parties, associates or leader — but this seems unnecessarily violent," one post read.
Another said: "dreadful picture. DO NOT CONDONE violence to anyone. Even Abbott. You LOST me off this page and as a supporter."
The group released a statement this morning defending the Michael Callaghan-inspired cover, but said "legal concerns" meant they would be withdrawing it all the same.

How long before we become like the US and the Middle East where democratically elected leaders are deposed and/or assassinated?

It's a good move The Socialist Alternative group took their graphic down.

Abbott needs to stop it then.
He is still at it on a daily basis in Parliament with his silly name calling and refusal to allow the opposition time to speak.
silly name calling and talking over the opposition is pretty much standard fare for all politicians of both sides, and done within parliamentary walls.
Not on a par with publishing an article on the front page of a news missive including a bloodied razor wishing, to see the PM's throat cut.

Ah, no it's not parliamentary behaviour. Plus if any opposition member even looks the wrong way they get tossed out.
It's about on parr with the chaff bag comment, the won't lay down and die comment, the KFC menu and Bob Brown's **bleep** signs.
It's a cut throat razor. They are used for shaving. No worse than the giant fake black dicks attached to Gillard in the Pickled ones cartoons.

Sorry Cherples but there's no comparison that will make it ok to print that sort of graphic. It's probably illegal.
The Socialist Alternative know it and that's why they took it down.
It's actually a straight razor, but It's a called a cut throat razor for a reason:
"The straight razor is also considered a symbol of Australia's bloody and corrupt history, as a weapon of choice for underworld gangs of the country's Depression era."

Yes, they withdrew the image which is more than can be said about the equally offensive images of Gillard.
A guillotine is as offensive as a razor, if not more so.
