Prime Minister Julia Gillard's partner, Tim Mathieson, has made a joke about Asian women and prostate examinations during a speech at The Lodge.
The remark was made during a reception in honour of the Prime Minister's XI cricket match.
Mr Mathieson is a men's health ambassador and was encouraging the crowd to get prostate checks.
He then suggested men should look for a small, female, Asian doctor to perform the examination.
"We can get a blood test for it, but the digital examination is the only true way to get a correct reading on your prostate, so make sure you go and do that, and perhaps look for a small, Asian, female doctor is probably the best way," he said.

I disagree with most of you - I think it was an idiotic thing to say. And if he can't use his brain before opening his mouth, the PM should leave him at home.
But I can understand why all you fellas would be thinking he was spot on. 🙂

What the fellas think of him/his speech is more important than what the ladies think, given the topic.

I think Tony Abbott should have said it then we would have seen a media storm like never before. We would have seen the Emily Listers out in force. We would have seen the "misogynist" card the "racist card called" on every channel.

no, thats incorrect . the media generally only cover these things if its a labor affiliate. mrs pyne , margie and mr mirrabella have immunity as they should.. Tim however, being joolya's partner is fair game.

It was a lighthearted bloke's joke - not intended to be offensive
and jumped on by the media out to cause trouble and for something to do
He is harmless enough
I agree.
There were worse comments ignored by the msm last week.

Im sure poor little timmy dosnt need to worry about prostrate cancer or checks, im tottaly convinced that the PM has his man hood locked nicley away where it cant threaten her grip on power, after all he is a man, she should have just kept him in the kitchen where he belonged
Why?
Is it not possible that he went into the relationship with his eyes open?
You say you're not sexist and yet can't seem to resist having a dig at women.

I don't think so.
The comment was not made with malicious intent.
It was not derogatory.
I thought yeah, give me an Asian dentist any day. (The Asian dentist I used to see cured my fear of the dentist with her small gentle hands :^O)

It was just a joke and people need to tak eit asit was intended.
As for the b umfinger comment, rectal examinations are still very much an important part of diagnosing prostate disease. A PSA alone isn't accurate. Sorry fellas, suck it up.

however you may see tims joke, he was correct .
