Time to get ready for Gall Wasps.

If you have citrus trees now is the time to ready for Gall Wasps.

They were limited to Qld and NSW however have now migrated down to Vic.

Gall wasps will bury their eggs in new growths on virtually any citrus trees.

Cut away any affected areas and place cuttings in a sealed plastic bag so when the eggs hatch they are not released into the environment. Then throw away in the rubbish.

If you prefer to keep a particular branch, slice one side of the gall wasp nest so the eggs are exposed to air. This will kill them.

Buying a Gall Wasp attractor is a very good idea. This will reduce the number for next season and so forth.

Thay are available at Bunnings for around $8.

Hang one or two in citrus trees from mid August to no later than November as after that you may destroy beneficial insects.

I have also educated some of my neighbors with citrus trees on Gall Wasps.

Happy gardening.
