Has anyone else found that sunflower oil leaves a plastic like film on things when it's used at high temperature?

I'm not buying it anymore because it makes the tiles and stove top too hard to clean.

I have some old Hills saucepans that hubby brought to the marriage.

I 'd get more if I could, they're still going strong, just not red anymore.

That's the brand I have which are 45 years old.  I don't think they are available now.

All the new saucepans have steel handles.  Don't they get hot?  Do you have to use a pot holder?

Years ago there was a bad locust plague out west. It was really bad, after 15 minutes of driving you would have to stop and clean the windscreen and front grill. Some bright spark told OH if he put cooking oil on the front of the car, the grill and the radiator ect those locusts would slide right off.

Yeah right. The oil got hot and went sticky and made the locusts stick worse.  It was a nightmare to clean that oil off. I had tried to convey my concern about the possibility of the oil cooking but once his mind is set on something there's no changing. I did have the satisfaction of telling him I told you so. Seriuosly, what goose thought pouring vegatable oil on the bonnet of a car would be a good thing
