Today is my nightmare day

A day I both hoped would come and at the same time hoped would never arrive.
Today the Salvation Army is being held accountable for actions that happened when I was a child in their care.
Actions that for nearly 50 years no one, not even my family would believe could happen in the name of religion.
A vindication that my nightmares are not a figment of an overworked imagination.
Childhood is supposed to be protected and safe not years of pure terror.
While I was not sexually abused, there are other forms of abuse so vile it never goes away.
In my case all of the persons involved are beyond answering questions.
This enquiry will not bring peace to me, but hopefully no other generation of children will live a better life because of its findings.

I heard on the radio this morning that the evidence takers can expect evidence worse than they have heard before in this enquiry.  Certainly that religion was prominent in the child abuse cases that I did a small amount of work on.
