I know a young man that got angry with his car and punched the stearing wheel and the airbag went off.
Every time I see him I smile, he thinks I am being nice ๐
But I love that show Motorway Patrol!
I watch it to learn English, translated from English

I contacted BMW head office asking this question, and was told that only one of their dealers could carry out the work. I called the NRMA legal service and was virtually told to get lost. They definitely were not interested, first tIme in almost 40 years membership I have asked for advice. It will be the last time. I also contacted the ACCC who is responsible for all recalls and was told that they had other enquiries from people in regional areas and were planning on making a ruling regarding costs, but they did not know how long that would be.
Well how about BMW send a tow truck to collect your car & take it to their dealership & replace it then ! I would tell them I don't feel safe driving 200 kms on the highway, presumably that would be at high speed, in case something goes wrong & the airbag goes off, plus you don't need to be driving under such stressful circumstances ! Of all manufacturers, I would have thought BMW would be more considerate & obliging ! Lol, well guess a few of us might think twice about buying a Bmer then if that's their attitude.
Shame about the NRMA - I know years ago their technical & legal services were excellent. RACQ (the equivalent up here) has gone the same way - they're basically just for road service membership these days.
I wonder, depending how long it takes ACCC to get off their butts and make a decision if it would be made retrospective ? Just my opinion of course, but to me it should be a no brainer - just make the fair & correct decision - it is not the consumers fault !
