Richo, ex SIL's airbags went off when he hit a wombat on a back country road.
Car was fine - til he hit a tree cos he couldn't see around the air bag!

Six fatalities and more than 100 injuries have been linked to the Takata airbags, and in some cases the incidents were horrific, with metal shards penetrating a driverโs face and neck.

Today I received the air bag recall notice on my car.
Only problem is that I have to drive 200kms to nearest authorised dealer and back.
I hate Highway driving.๐ก
That really does suck. It really irks me that in such situations you are the one who has to do the running around when it was not your mistake in the first place. Some dealerships here in Brissie have mobile service vans - wondering if yours would possibly have one and be able to come to you or if they could authorize someone local to do the change over if they sent one out to them ?

I also hate motor way driving.
I know a young man that got angry with his car and punched the stearing wheel and the airbag went off.
Every time I see him I smile, he thinks I am being nice ๐
