A reminder of the debt that Australia has, while Labor can bury their heads and deny it exists the fact remains we have a huge problem with debt and sooner than later the chips will fall, no business, no state and no country can keep operating in the red, eventually those we own the money to will own us. Who will own us?
The state of Qld has debt of $80 billion dollars, Labor are saying they don’t think it’s that bad, Bill Shorten on Australia’s debt, there is no debt crisis, there is a crisis and we are in this situation because of Labor, no one else and the bottom line is Labor can’t fix this problem, their speciality is creating debt not fixing debt.

Popular support for the Abbott government has fallen dramatically across Australia over the past year, with Opposition Leader Bill Shorten now considered preferred prime minister in most states, a Newspoll analysis shows.

The News Corp Australia poll out on Saturday shows the coalition's primary vote has tumbled 10 points in Victoria and South Australia, nine points in NSW, eight points in Queensland and seven points in WA.

Our Prime Minister is copping flack because of making Prince Phillip a Knight and I can’t say I disagree with them. Prince Phillip does fund The Duke of Edinburgh awards Australia wide and lots of young people have benefited from that however Prince Phillip is not Australian and the majority wouldn’t know about the awards.

Prince Phillip probably doesn’t need another award.

The media are always happy to focus on the dumb things, and the real issues are swept under the carpet, unfortunately most Australians are running with the media at present and all we hear is the down side.

Australia is paying $30 million a day to cover the net debt, this year Australia will pay $11 billion interest:- Ms Westacott said -politicians needed to prepare “the community for the ¬enormous social and economic change that must take place in our society’’.
“The $11 billion interest we are paying this year is not a bookkeeping entry, it is money we cannot spend in areas that the community is crying out for,” she said.

“For example that’s about $2 billion more than we spend on higher education.”

Greece over the last two days have just elected a communist party to govern their country, this to get away from the EU they have gone from the frying pan into the fire, this is what happens when people get desperate.

icyfroth please if you insist on posting about Greek politics do some research first, the Greek Communist Party is the KKE which won 15 seats in the recent election, they are one of Greeces oldest political party. SYRIZA is  not  Communist nor despite the hysterical media reports ultra leftist, it is a social democratic party.

As for the continual posting of so called economics, this rubbish as been proved to be incorrect so many time it is beyond pointless to yet again post the truth as some just refuse to acknowledge that all the "economic" (smirk) rubbish that the LyingNP have repeated is nothing but spin to try and scare Australians into accepting austerity measures that are both unnecessary and will only cause our economy  to contract even more.

SYRIZA (Coalition of the Radical Left) entered a new stage in its life and action as a single party after its first (Founding) Congress (10-14 July 2013).

There were 3,568 Congress delegates, who had been elected by 491 organisations of members in Greece, Greeks abroad and youth groups. The Congress elected Alexis Tsipras as President of the party, as well as a 201-member Central Committee.  Some of the component organisations of the initial coalition did not agree with the transformation of SYRIZA into a single party and retain their relationship to SYRIZA as allied groups (Active Citizens, led by M Glezos, Democratic Social Movement - DIKKI, DEA, KEDA).

After that, SYRIZA drafted a government programme on the basis of which it fought the elections of 17 June 2012 with the visible possibility of being elected the first party.

However, it has met with fierce reaction from the domestic establishment and European circles, who mounted a fear-mongering campaign against SYRIZA to terrorise the Greek people, in order to stop SYRIZA from becoming the first elected left government in Greek history.
