A reminder of the debt that Australia has, while Labor can bury their heads and deny it exists the fact remains we have a huge problem with debt and sooner than later the chips will fall, no business, no state and no country can keep operating in the red, eventually those we own the money to will own us. Who will own us?
The state of Qld has debt of $80 billion dollars, Labor are saying they don’t think it’s that bad, Bill Shorten on Australia’s debt, there is no debt crisis, there is a crisis and we are in this situation because of Labor, no one else and the bottom line is Labor can’t fix this problem, their speciality is creating debt not fixing debt.

How the 'Knightmare" saga went down.
Publicly his colleagues grappled with formulations to distance themselves from him after his decision to award a knighthood to Prince Philip without stabbing him in the front. Privately there was sorrow, anger, humiliation and as one said “utter utter disbelief” that he could do this to himself and to them. It will never be forgotten nor readily forgiven. Some were already doing numbers, apparently intending to impress upon him how much trouble he was in. After Monday, it acquired a deeper, more urgent focus.
According to one Liberal MP, the most obscure backbencher game enough or riled enough to put their hand up today would get 15 to 20 votes. Imagine what Julie Bishop could do if she wanted to.
Despite Kevin Andrews saying it has cost nothing, it could ultimately be the costliest decision Abbott has ever made because it encapsulated for sensible Liberals, including the monarchists, everything which is wrong with Abbott’s conduct as Prime Minister: his failure to consult; his failure to gauge the mood of the electorate; his failure to concentrate on issues mainstream Australians deem paramount; his failure to live up to repeated promises to do better.
Yesterday, his preparedness to accept responsibility, cop it on the chin and again undertake to consult more fell on increasingly deaf and hostile ears. They have heard it all before. Often.

I agree it was silly and it made us look like the forelock-tugging colonials we used to be.
I think it's time to get over it though.

No they don't.. the issue with Abbott is specifically reintroducing Knights & Dames honours.. one he thought of and approved all by himself. 1968 isn't very recent is it?
Umm.. read the news... who is wasting time on it? Abbott is getting bashed for the 'Knightmare sage' from every media outlet lefties and righties, and conservative bloggers.... don't make out it is my opinion only..
Mostly every one over 18 is eligible to vote... nothing wrong taking note and being informed of incompetence in Prime Ministers and their Govt.
In many peoples views, including current Liberal MP's the knighthood saga by Abbott was the last straw, not an isolated incident that will be yesterdays news, tomorrow.

An OA is just a lower level of the same award set.
Most start with an OA and often rise up the list over the years.
No, knights and dames are titles that were not Australian awards, until the abbott resurrected them.
We don't need them and most don't want them as they are irrelevant to this century.

What glee just posted is widely recognised in Australia... .. including current Liberal MP's...not just posters views here.
One would have to have had their eyes & ears shut all week to not realise that...

That's your small minded socialist opinion only.
Since you'd never get one, why worry.
Or are you going to get angry and violent like lefties do and beat people up
that don't agree with them ?????

Post 45 - by opening poster
Our Prime Minister is copping flack because of making Prince Phillip a Knight and I can’t say I disagree with them. Prince Phillip does fund The Duke of Edinburgh awards Australia wide and lots of young people have benefited from that however Prince Phillip is not Australian and the majority wouldn’t know about the awards.
Prince Phillip probably doesn’t need another award.
(Crossed out bit incorrect.)

They are and were Australian awards until Hawke discontinued the knight grade.

Have you not read any news this week? Even Liberal MP's were against Tony Abbott restating the Knights & Dames honours last year, let alone having Abbott give a knighthood to Prince Philip.
Its nothing to do with anyone here not getting one, it is all to do with Abbott's bad judgement calls... too many of them now.. that was the last straw...for his MP"s as well.
