Tony Abbott's Support Page

A reminder of the debt that Australia has, while Labor can bury their heads and deny it exists the fact remains we have a huge problem with debt and sooner than later the chips will fall, no business, no state and no country can keep operating in the red, eventually those we own the money to will own us. Who will own us?
The state of Qld has debt of $80 billion dollars, Labor are saying they don’t think it’s that bad, Bill Shorten on Australia’s debt, there is no debt crisis, there is a crisis and we are in this situation because of Labor, no one else and the bottom line is Labor can’t fix this problem, their speciality is creating debt not fixing debt.

Re: Tony Abbott's Support Page

$5,000 does seem a small token amount but at least

any amount in writing is better than zip

and now they have passed a law on it will be easier to uphold a higher amount at a later date

much easier to make a law than break one I believe

No, they wont deter but it is some easy revenue.

I think it should be $50,000, because before $50,000, rich people don't bat an eyelid,
It is petty cash.

They have the money, they are foreign, milk them for all they are worth.

I agree, a $5k fee and a $10K fee is small change to the calibre of investors that buy up our real estate. It's really just a token nod from the government to the campaigners.

What I do like though, is:

"Secondly, there will be a new register set up so that we know how many foreign residential and agricultural property owners are in Australia, who they are, which is a very important form of reassurance to the Australian people.

"And, if anyone does break the law then we can fine them up to 25 per cent of the value of the property as well as forcing them to sell the property."

As long as it stays properly supervised and not swept under the carpet, that would be good.

Personally I don't think any foreigners should hold any Australian land or property, and shouldn't have more than a 49% in an business investment.

charge every foreign investor $50,000 on every property on a 25 year lease

renewable every 25 years if you dont pay again

someone else gets your plot

If it does happen to pass it will get erased at the next red tape repeal day. That's what they're all about.

Re: Tony Abbott's Support Page

Mr Abbott, who has arrived for his first prime ministerial visit to New Zealand, was again questioned about his future as leader while touring cyclone-damaged Rockhampton in Queensland this morning.

Ministers and backbenchers have told the ABC they believed Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull now had the numbers to win a challenge and should use them.

Mr Abbott survived a move on his leadership earlier this month, when a motion to spill the position failed 39 to 61.

The Prime Minister told reporters this morning that as far as he was concerned, every member of the Government was focused on doing the right thing by the people of Australia.

"I am just getting on with government. I'm not going to be distracted and none of my ministers are going to be distracted," he said.

"Frankly it rather diminishes the pain of the people of this part of central Queensland when their difficulties are intruded upon by this kind of Canberra nonsense.

"I was elected to be Prime Minister, the Government was elected to govern the country.

"The people expect the Government and the Prime Minister they elect to go forward doing the job that we were elected to do and then to submit ourselves to their judgment at the next election, and that's certainly what I expect to be doing."

Re: Tony Abbott's Support Page

I must say i like Abbott more since that spill

I think he showed a good amount of fortitude which is a good quality in a leader

When the going gets tough - the tough get going

Malcolm Turnbill Is a snake in the grass

The biggest mistake Tony made was a secret Ballot

He should have tossed out all the troublemakers after the spill to ensure it would not happen again

Australian public is going to be livid if we have a repeat of the labour parties demise to

the queen of snakes

No, he was elected to be leader of the Libs in opposition.  Then the Libs and Nats won the election.
