Tony Abbott's Support Page

A reminder of the debt that Australia has, while Labor can bury their heads and deny it exists the fact remains we have a huge problem with debt and sooner than later the chips will fall, no business, no state and no country can keep operating in the red, eventually those we own the money to will own us. Who will own us?
The state of Qld has debt of $80 billion dollars, Labor are saying they don’t think it’s that bad, Bill Shorten on Australia’s debt, there is no debt crisis, there is a crisis and we are in this situation because of Labor, no one else and the bottom line is Labor can’t fix this problem, their speciality is creating debt not fixing debt.

Tony Abbott made the right call on same-sex marriage and a plebiscite

For those who believe that legalising same-sex marriage is a moral imperative and a social inevitability, the announcement by Prime Minister Tony Abbott that his government would commit to a national plebiscite on the issue should have been welcomed as good news.

Instead, in yet another sign of just how unnecessarily and ironically intolerant the debate has become, Abbott's major change of policy on Tuesday was treated in the media and social media as Machiavellian and undemocratic.

It was neither. The Prime Minister made the right call.

We are constantly told there is overwhelming community support for legalising same-sex marriage. So a plebiscite is the ideal outcome for major social change. It takes the issue away from political parties and places it in the hands of the people.

The same-sex marriage lobby cites polls showing that about 70 per cent of the population supports change, which means there should be an emphatic majority of voters in support of same-sex marriage, as there was in the recent referendum in Ireland.

Thus the policy advocated by the Prime Minister, and supported by a clear majority in the Coalition, is the best outcome for multiple reasons.

Re: Tony Abbott's Support Page

THOUSANDS of flowers have been placed in front of Parliament House from Australians who want to thank Tony Abbott for standing by traditional marriage.

BUT the prime minister was unable to personally accept their thanks.

The gesture was organised by the Christian Federation, which has called for a civil conversation on changing the Marriage Act.

"There are millions of Aussies who very much feel in their heart the best way to raise children is with a traditional mum and dad," executive director Peter Kentley told AAP.

The way marriage is now is pretty good, the federation believes.

"No one's being discriminated against with civil unions and de factos," Mr Kentley said.

Family First senator Bob Day, who greeted the organisers, said it was refreshing to see an innovative and "nice gesture" instead of a gimmick.

If there was a referendum over the issue he predicts the public would vote no.

But the sea of floral colour on the forecourt is different to the rainbow lights greeting MPs flying into Canberra for the return of parliament.

The capital's terminal also had a giant #WeCanDoThis campaign sign out the front.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten's same-sex marriage legislation will get 10 minutes of debate in parliament on Monday evening.

Liberal backbencher Warren Entsch is expected to give notice of a cross-party bill which is unlikely to be debated for at least a week.

The latest poll is 73% do not want homosexual marriage, no wonder they are livid and don't want a democratic vote.
