A reminder of the debt that Australia has, while Labor can bury their heads and deny it exists the fact remains we have a huge problem with debt and sooner than later the chips will fall, no business, no state and no country can keep operating in the red, eventually those we own the money to will own us. Who will own us?
The state of Qld has debt of $80 billion dollars, Labor are saying they don’t think it’s that bad, Bill Shorten on Australia’s debt, there is no debt crisis, there is a crisis and we are in this situation because of Labor, no one else and the bottom line is Labor can’t fix this problem, their speciality is creating debt not fixing debt.

But didn't Pyne ask for a conversation and ideas sharing?

And isn't that exactly what Van Badham has done?

So you might not like the idea but to call her silly names and suggest she had no right putting forward her idea is a contradiction in terms of both free speech and the invitation from Pyne to discuss the issue and contribute ideas.

Abbott opens tenders for Qld highway work

THE federal government has opened the tender process for a dangerous stretch of Queensland's Bruce Highway, just days after the state's worst Easter road toll in 20 years.

PRIME Minister Tony Abbott and his deputy, Infrastructure Minister Warren Truss, made the announcement in Kybong, near Gympie, on Thursday morning.

Early works tenders will now be sought for the Cooroy to Curra upgrade which aims to ease congestion, improve safety and move freight vehicles more easily.

As many as three people had died on the stretch in the space of a few weeks, Mr Truss said.

Eight people lost their lives on Queensland's roads over Easter - a figure police said was a sad indictment on the state's road safety record.

It was also well above the 20-year average of 3-3.5 deaths each Easter.

The upgrade is part of a wider $6.7 billion federal government scheme to improve the 1700km Bruce Highway.

This includes flood proofing, lane upgrades and improving intersections.

Mr Abbott said the work was critical in keeping the "lifeline" route operating, even in Queensland's extreme weather conditions.

"If the Bruce Highway goes out, half of Queensland is cut off," he said.

Construction on the Cooroy to Curra section will begin early 2016.

It's hoped it will be completed 18 months to two years later.

This is the first step to deliver a 10-year program to bring the Bruce Highway up to a satisfactory standard.

Some day you just have to pull back, shake your head and wonder why God gave oxygen to so many idiots, and worse still a rag like the Guardian allows them to write articles for them.

Christopher Pyne must have the hardest job in government, first he has had to deal with the idiots in the senate who seem to think they were elected to block everything and now the Universities have withdrawn their original support because they have become frustrated and a ding bat like Van Badham is allowed to write an article about it.

Educated persons can be freeloaders too, as you may well know.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott paying for daughter Bridget to live at Kirribilli House

IT’S got million-dollar views of Sydney Harbour and the Governor-General next door has a swimming pool.

But proving his philosophy of user pays starts at home, the Prime Minister is now paying taxpayers more than $250 a week for his youngest daughter to live at Kirribilli House.

The PM has confirmed he is now paying an undisclosed figure for Bridget Abbott, 23, to live at his official residence on Sydney Harbour.

The Abbott family has agreed to pay because Bridget is now working as a graduate radiologist and is therefore no longer classed as a dependant.

The board was determined by The Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet took Sydney’s soaring property prices into consideration.

“My daughter, Bridget Abbott, is undertaking her professional year as a graduate radiologist. She is therefore no longer a dependant under entitlements,’’ Mr Abbott said.

“As Bridget will continue to live at Kirribilli House, I have notified the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to ensure that standard contribution is made while she completes her professional year.’’

Richie Benaud's family declines Prime Minister Tony Abbott's offer of state funeral

Benaud died this week at the age of 84, after a storied career as one of cricket's greatest players, captains and commentators.

Mr Abbott said on Friday Benaud's death was "the greatest loss for cricket since the loss of Don Bradman" and as such it was appropriate he be offered a state funeral.

But Benaud's widow Daphne phoned Canberra on Saturday to kindly decline the offer of a state funeral.

"I thought it was important that as a mark of the respect that we have long had for him that we should offer a state funeral," Mr Abbott told reporters on Sunday.

"But my understanding is that Richie's own wishes were for something very, very quiet, and something very, very private."

He will be remembered this week with a private gathering attended only by his immediate family.

Federal Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce said he was working with Prime Minister Tony Abbott, looking at partnering with councils to bring forward projects that might inject employment and investment in some of the worst-hit areas.

State Agriculture Minister Bill Byrne said he had written to Mr Joyce to ask him for more funding under a water infrastructure rebate scheme.

He said he was also prepared to discuss community and small business impacts and would review the Government's response if this wet season failed again

In my opinion, employers already contribute to paying for the HECs by paying a higher salary to an employee who has attained a degree; and more when a further degree is applicable to the workplace, and so on.

It is then up to that employee to repay his debt from that higher salary.

A very dignified response to a State funeral. He and his wife were class all the way. Pity some politicians families didn't decline this gratuitous invitation.
