A reminder of the debt that Australia has, while Labor can bury their heads and deny it exists the fact remains we have a huge problem with debt and sooner than later the chips will fall, no business, no state and no country can keep operating in the red, eventually those we own the money to will own us. Who will own us?
The state of Qld has debt of $80 billion dollars, Labor are saying they don’t think it’s that bad, Bill Shorten on Australia’s debt, there is no debt crisis, there is a crisis and we are in this situation because of Labor, no one else and the bottom line is Labor can’t fix this problem, their speciality is creating debt not fixing debt.

The media have been trying to destroy Mal too and Channel 9 even went as far to play his involvement in the Slipper/Ashby scandal twice to try and gain some traction.

The media is trying it’s best to destroy our Prime Minister and promoting this garbage is living proof of it.
We have so many Ministers on the front bench and Brough and Andrews would be the last people one would choose as Prime Minister.

Mal Brough urged to challenge Tony Abbott for leadership

You can't be serious.  When did Labor try to destroy the back bench Brough?

Brough, when not even a member, tried to bring down an elected government.  He has proved himself to be an absolute slime ball who is interested only in the game of power and control of those he feels has the right to use as pawns in his games.

We need people who are in politics for what they can do for the country not this bunch of psycopaths who just want to win the game.

I wonder if Tony Abbott will borrow anything from Campbell Newman's recent 'plead' speech for his Press Club thingy today on TV at 12.30?:

“Our hospitals are working better today, the state is safer with more police and strong laws that protect Queenslanders, and our kids are getting a better deal”......

It was a disgusting scheme from beginning, when Ashby sought a job with Slipper, to end.

It was a scheme devised by Brough to bring down the gov and Slipper so brough could get a good sniff then jump into his seat.

Tony Abbott’s speech to the National Press Club was billed as critical to his survival.

Verdict: It was very good.

Abbott chose not to do what some commentators urged and do a huge mea culpa, begging forgiveness for errors. He chose instead to show himself as an unbowed and undeterred leader, firm and passionately focussed on the national interest in the face of great challenges.

He warned his colleagues that Australians had voted to end Labor’s instability and did not want more of it from the Liberals. They should not be making a bad situation worse. They should not panic but hold their ground.

His concessions were to scrap the paid parental leave scheme as unaffordable, leave the awarding of future knighthoods to the Council for the Order of Australia and be more collegial.

Abbott stressed that the Australian people should hire and fire leaders, and tt had elected him, Abbott, to fix the economy. That’s a message to the plotters. Julie Bishop in particular will not want to seem another Julia Gillard.

Abbott also pointed out that an Abbott Government would keep the carbon tax scrapped and Shorten’s Labor wouldn’t. This, in turn, could be read as a warning to backers of warmist Malcolm Turnbull. Electing him leader would remove a key point of difference with Labor.

One more thing: Abbott made crystal clear with words and demeanour that he will not resign. That ends the fantasy pushed by some backbenchers, who know they don’t have the numbers or courage for a challenge.

Lots of Ministers attended the speech to support Abbott. That’s another sign that Abbott is going nowhere soon.

People fretting less over Abbott budget

A new survey suggests there are lessening concerns over the Abbott government's first budget while people believe their job security has improved.

ME Bank's household financial comfort index rose eight per cent in the six months to December to stand at the highest level in its three-year history.

In June 2014 the index fell three per cent in an immediate response to the budget, growing worries over the jobs market, low wage growth and falling savings.

"Fast-forward to December 2014 and the financial psychology of Australian households has changed dramatically for the better," ME Bank consulting economist Jeff Oughton says.

While just over half the 1500 people polled still expect the budget will have a negative impact on their financial situation, this was down from the more than two-thirds of respondents who were fretting in June.

But a big contributor to the overall rise in confidence was the belief of improved job availability and job security.

Almost five in 10 per people said it would be easy getting a job within two months if they were unemployed, up from over three in 10 previously.

Nearly three-quarters of people also now felt secure in their current employment.
