It's not that cold here in Canberra; the ice in the bird bath was only a centimetre thick, this morning.

That reminds me of when I lived in Canberre many years ago.
It was late May and my mother was staying for a few days.
I washed my OH's overalls at 4pm after he finished work and threw them over the clothes line, hoping the wild wind would blow a bit of the water out of them. About 8pm my mother looked out and commented that the wind must have dropped as the overalls were not moving.
I went out and stood the overalls up...they were frozen solid.
My mother never got over that experience of Canberra in late autumn.
6 degrees down your way richo? you've doubled me, it was 3 here at 8am probably less when you posted earlier, looks like a beautiful day looking out my window though.
9 degrees here....... I was all snuggled up in bed with my book at 7.30 am and got a message to say daughter was running late 
I jumped out of bed and dressed in record time, to do the school run! 
Not sure of the temp but the sun is out..bet it`s still cold tho
