Re: Toxic Tuna

erica - one does not find a misshapen carrot or parnip anymore, a cauliflower with some green grubs that have to be washed out or a grub in an apple

Woolies have just started selling ODD fruit/vege - odd, wonky shapes, smaller than usual - which are sold at a lower price than 1st Grade. This produce would go to waste otherwise.

I have bought the carrots, apples and bent! cucumber

Don't mention green grubs!!!!! I bought some kale yesterday from a market stall (it was behind the counter, so I didn't get to inspect it first, then put in a bag and handed to me)  Today I  saw on caterpillar on it... disposed of that. Washed one leaf ..fine.. opened up some more.... caterpillars and eggs all over the inside the leaves... threw it out!

Re: Toxic Tuna

m*3, The usual way to get rid of grubs, is to wash the fresh vegies in salt water, but like you, if I found eggs on the leaf, I would throw it out.

Keep looking for fresh local or home-grown.

What's people's view on Aldi F&V ?

I find it can be cheaper BUT you really need to pick it.

Strawberries with the bottom one's already mouldy.

Yeah. same same as coles or woolies

we used to have ppl come to my counter at work selling farm fresh berries. Cost slightly more but FARM FRESH Hey!

Turned out they were from the markets and you also got mouldy ones at the bottom.

Very disillusionment!

I was quite disappointed, it was a market stall but they sell a lot of stuff they don't grow as well. I am going to mention it to them next week.

I wanted to put the kale in the juicer.. no way did I want any grubs/eggs in there with it.

I don't go there (Aldi) that much but what I have bought is OK.. green apples, bananas, plums - it is cheaper.

Our local woolies only supermarket in town, F&V expensive  - don't sell much for that reason. then they get overripe.

Seen plenty of mouldy strawbs there.

I agree if it works then keep it going until it works no more.

Re: Toxic Tuna

All seafood is full of micro plastic particles let alone all the toxins that are being released from all the munitions that were dumped at the end of WWII. Plus all the radioactive waste that was dumped by the Soviet Union in our waters in the seventies. All in forty four gallon drums that are now rusted through
