It seems to me that the real losers were the opinion pollsters who got it completely wrong.  They haven't got a clue.  Yesterday you could have got betting odds of 10-1 against a Conservative overall majority... I was tempted, but like most others I didn't think it would happen. The joker in this new pack is the Scottish National Party who will no doubt use their spectactular gains in the UK parliament as a springboard for another Scottish independence referendum.  As the Chinese say,  'may you live in interesting times'...

As you so rightly say BB the pollsters were wrong and have been so for some time.

However,  while the SNP are receiving  50% of the media chatter they do only have 9% of the seats, and with the Tories having an absolute majority,  I suspect their "springboard for another Scottish independence referendum." will actually be over an empty pool with Cameron controlling the  water supply.

It will be a while before we will see a repeat of  the past (2013) :   Scottish Independence Referendum Act .

I  am more interested in David Cameron’s EU referendum gamble which he promised to pursue during the election campaign

"a referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union. That poll must happen by the end of 2017 if David Cameron is to honour the Tories’ manifesto commitment"

The times are certainly interesting over/up there!

Why didn't this tosser stand? because he's full of hot air and a member of the guardianistas who thought they had it in the bag. Let's hope this loser pulls his head in in future, he did no one any favours and only exposed himself as an attention seeker of the left, the very worst kind.

THe UK have been promised a referendum on getting out of the EU. It is and has been a complete disaster for the UK but it will be fascinating to watch it unfold and if they do extricate themselves from the EU how long will the EU last?.

"UK Elections - Conservatives In, Labour out."  Obviously missed the little detail that Labour was not in government.  UK coalition government 2010 - 2015 was composed of members of both the Conservative Party  and the Liberal Democrats.  It is the Liberal Democrats who are out.

Recorded live video of the BBC TV coverage of the recent (7 May 2015) UK general election results as they came in. One of the most exciting election nights for many years. The result was totally unexpected. A hung parliament had been forecast by all the opinion pollsters - they were all wrong. The Conservatives were returned to government with a small, but clear majority. The Labour party was obliterated in Scotland by the Scottish National Party (who want independence from England). See many well known politicians losing their parliamentary seats. The leaders of the Labour party and the Liberal Democrats resign. The leader of UKIP (UK Independence (from Europe) Party) resigns - and is re-instated... You couldn't make it up...
