Union training members to have "Structured Conversations"

and this is going to happen to you while you are at yoru childs sports games....

And you thought us Libs were bad for putting our opinions in a chat room....

"So we are going to be looking at a strategy where we actively mobilise our members, and we have thousands of members in some of these seats, t go out there and do this one-on-one engagement themselves. It's something that a lot of US unions did with Obama in '08 and it worked very well for them."

He said members would be trained to have "structured conversations  with voters about the benefits of Labor's policy achievements. Apart from door-knocking and discussions in workplaces, unionist would be encouraged to strike up conversations with other parents when watching their children play Saturday sport.

You can thank Paul Howes and the AWU for this little initiative...

Great idea.... hope all of the pollies do that... get some training in how to speak... what to say and what NOT to say. It might save us all from so much laughter, angst and confusion.

Re: Union training members to have "Structured Conversations"

He also said this

'She'll be right' attitude must go- AWU

The attitude of 'she'll be right' by blue-collar workers to mental health issues will be challenged in a new campaign.

Mental health organisation Beyond Blue has teamed up with the  Australian Workers' Union to tackle depression and anxiety in the  workplace.

They've developed posters and wallet cards which will be  distributed to the union's 140,000 members, giving them information  about mental health issues and where they can get help.

AWU National Secretary Paul Howes says people often ignore the  signs of mental illness for too long.

'There has been a longstanding culture of workers in blue-collar  industries hiding difficulties and trying to just tough it out,' Mr  Howes told the AWU national conference on the Gold Coast on  Wednesday.

'As a result, problems are left untreated and allowed to spiral  out of control.'

Oh dear, those bad bad naughty messengers. Shoot them perhaps?

"He said members would be trained to have "structured conversations  with voters, door-knocking (and head?) and discussions in workplaces, unionist would be encouraged to strike up conversations with other parents when watching their children play Saturday sport."

The mind boggles at the thought of someone from the AWU, or even worse, the CFMEU having a structured conversation, especially(unusually) in their own time.

I think Unions should be banned from spending it's peoples money on any political exercise.

Not everyone in a union is for the ALP.
