This is a first time that I have not planted anything. Because last year everything got eaten by our possums. I do not suppose there is anything that would keep them away. My dogs do not seem to manage.

we have possums here although, we have never had problems with them and we do have fruit trees in our yard
no idea though how to deter them though.

No, but the people who live around the corner from us have a nice looking chili plant, and the chilis are just left there to dry ou5t and die.... I want to steal some, I don't think they'd notice

I don't know if you meant me.
But I do have 2 compost bins - not 'real' ones though. I have the tumble ones which turn your stuff into compost in weeks rather than months (who can wait that long??). I throw everything in there. And churn it around every few days.
They work pretty well although sometimes the mix is too dry or too wet and I can't get it right. So I have to tip it all out and start again...

I have a worm farm and where I put all our refuse, and the compost from that was great for the veggies. I think it must be a possum plague here. Last year I had hundreds of tomatoes and was just waiting for them to turn little bit pink, but none got as far. They also ate whole heap of my pumpkins, destroyed almond tree, ringbarked lemon tree and peed all over my bike making all the chrome to go rusty!
Some of the tomatos were in tubs on my patio, and to get to them the possums had to walk across the patio and some distance from trees and safety.

It is only the beginning of Spring and already the grass is starting to go brown and dry. I absolutely refuse to put good drinking water on grass, but does anyone know if it is ok to use the water from washing up, laundry and bath on grass?
