Do you do the sewing thing?  I did until my clever sister suggested tying the cardomon pods up in a muslin square.  Sooo much easier Woman Wink

Anywaaaaay, back to visiting Christchurch.  I hope someone comes along soon with ideas of where to go, otherwise you may starve Woman Surprised

Yes, I do the sewing thing! I did think of the muslin sachet, but meh, no muslin! haha..but I really like the sewing thing- seems authentic! Love cardomom- am going to bake an apple (or pear) and cardamom cake when I get back- will post the recipe on the dinner thread..

Yes, wonder where all those who know about Christchurch are??Hope they visit Woman Happy

I've never been there youcan, so I don't have any tips. I wonder if it's all been rebuilt after the earthquake? Will be interesting to hear what you've seen when you come back from there

Thanks for replying debra Woman Happy

I dont think its all been rebuilt. Ive seen a few photos, and there seem to be a number of vacant lots, which used to have large buildings..

streets are sometimes one way, and because of access, and building sites etc, which causes confusion and difficulties.

I think they are building the city from the ground up, due to the scale of the devastation..and Ive heard that there are a number of temporary sites that work quite well- container city for example..

I will be sure to report back..

The last time I went to Christchurch was the year before the earthquake, it was a beautiful city and the walk along the river was lovely.  If you have time drive to Akaroa it is about 1hr 20 from Christchurch.

Akaroa is a quaint french town you can go dolphin or whale watching, you can also swim with the dolphins from the harbour.  They also have the most amazing wool shop that sells beautiful clothes made out of possum and marino wool they are not cheap but the quality and warm are worth the price.

I fell hoplessly in love with the South Island it is so beautiful, the people are lovely and the food is great.  I hope you have a good time while you are there.

Thanks for your post maine Woman Happy

Not sure if we will have time to get a car, but its always good to know which direction to go!

Im looking forward to seeing the landscape- unfortunately, we arrive late at night, but I used to love flying into Auckland and seeing that first glimpse of dark rich green and the brooding mountains...

I know it's not Auckland or Christchurch -

A pilot's view of the descent into Queenstown - full screen is best

Just lovely
