WARNING!!!! If you take photos with your cell phone
“Warning” If you, your kids or grand kids take pics from your phone—WATCH THIS!
This is truly alarming – please take the time to watch. At the end they’ll tell you how to set your phone so you don’t run this risk!
PLEASE PASS THIS INFO TO ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO TAKES PICTURES WITH THEIR CELL OR SMART PHONE AND POSTS THEM ONLINE.
I want everyone of you to watch this and then be sure to share with all your family and friends.
It’s REALLY important info, about what your posting things on your cell phones can do TO YOU!!!
Too much technology out there these days so beware………..
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO WATCH THIS VIDEO, AND TAKE THE RECOMMENDED PRECAUTIONS.
If you have children or grandchildren you NEED to watch this. I had no idea this could happen from taking pictures on the blackberry or cell phone. It’s scary.

It didn't appear that the media and police thought it was nonsense.

Just because the media runs with it means a little, but it certainly is a good idea not to give too much info about anything on the internet.

GPS and location apps drain the battery too fast for my liking.

Yes, I have always had those features turned off since I got a smart phone for that reason. Besides don't like the idea of anyone tracking my location (not that I am worth tracking)

Please pass this on . Arghhhhhhh
Back again, this information has been around for a few years , but I suppose paranoia for the people makes for good watching. The embedded information indicates the lat/long where the image was recorded the address would require more effort.
"While iPhones do geotag by default, it is possible to turn the feature off. For other phones and cameras, a Googling or a look through your user's manual should tell you what you need to know."
If you had the expertise, why bother with "snaps" that people post (why?) on a non-secure, certainly not private on-line, server/Board, when you could access reams of information pictures elsewhere.
Good to be reminded I agree (sans paranoia) however from what little I have read , the possible use of this feature would be for thieves to locate something valuable photographed using a geotag device. and posted online.
Nothing is secure/private once transmitted /posted.

I didn't say the idea was nonsense. But to consider it a major threat is nonsense if you think about how paedophiles recruit children - they don't need a GPS to locate victims as the victims are generally right under their noses.

Here's a thought.
Someone checks a photo of their ex-spouse or someone else they want to stalk and find out ALL there locales.
It is a worry!

Someone in fear of their ex would surely not be posting their location on all their photos and would probably have strong privacy settings.
