WASTE IN HOSPITALS

I recently returned a pair of crutches to the local hospital which took some time and effort (not complaining) to be told they don't want them back as they are used. These crutches were used for 2 days and although i respect that some may and I stress MAY be returned in bad condition those which are returned in pristine condition should be cleaned and re-used. Crutches and other similar items may cost in excess of $50 to provide so why not use them again where possible ?

Did you take them to a charity yet?

No, I don't have time to run around delivering a pair of crutches to places to see who does or does not want them, I left them at the hospital and they probably threw them away instead of re-using them as they were still in great condition.

If they were from a Hospital they would be marked with the Hospital's name.

Didn't look but as we have one local country hospital it seems reasonable that is where they came from, don't you think ??

It's not up to me to think, i'm asking the questions with the hopes of helping you with making a decision regarding you're crutches dilemma.

Re: WASTE IN HOSPITALS

Needing crutches for 2 days only seems unusual. If OP knows the person who left the crutches behind, why did that person dump them for the OP to deal with?

So a non local person ( someone you know) stayed at your apartments. They needed medical treatment, they got crutches from the local hospital. Guest didnt need the crutches after 2 days and went home leaving the crutches behind for you to dispose of?

The hospital said they dint take used crutches back and you dumped them there anyway?

And maybe not enough to be get seriously annoyed over? - the OP didn't have a wasted journey if she managed to dump the crutches at the hospital.
