Political threads have their place in social media but I do not think 'Community Spirit' is the place.
The vitriol and nastiness some of these threads engender, leading to claims of interpersonal posts, removal of posts and frequent locking of threads all damage any Community Spirit which previously existed.
Freedom of speech is to be applauded but the current rash of political threads is 'infecting' the spirit of the Community Spirit board.
Does anyone agree with me?
Would anyone else be prepared to communicate with the moderators requesting consideration of this suggestion?
I have.

Genuine question - would it be a problem for any of you hard core political posters if political threads were moved to a different board?

If you are not interested in those types of threads , the answer is simple, don't open them.

I would prefer that they had their own board.
I have no interest in reading them, and find it annoying when I open a thread with an innocent title only to find it is yet another polly bashing / praising one.

What has Australia become if politics is no longer for General Discussion?

There is no community spirit if ALL the threads are political.
Not all of us want these threads.

They couldn't possibly be relegated to one thread.
Moderation will remove any posts contravening any posting rules.
Why do people who don't post that often accross the board (low contributors) want to try and lay down some new laws for others?

Plus it is a really bad idea on budget night 🙂

I disagree completely ...there is a lot of Community focus and passion for Australians and our Community in political threads.

i understand people grow tired of it, maybe a little less of it might pacify them ? for example if i don't reply to the newsltd propoganda and nobody else does will it cease ? it might be worth a try for the sake of the others here
besides its a good way to allow the thread to drop to the bottom of the page if not further..
