WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Hmm, that first one was a bit of a sneaky choice on their part.

As always, depends on what letters you know can't be it. I tried 2 fairly risky starters. First was a bit of a dud, second a lot better.

I had a lucky break though, which made me laugh. In square 6 (3rd down on right), I had tried two eliminators & had absolutely zilch in that square and precious little in square 8 either. It wasn't looking good. Then I typed in my 3rd eliminator and lo and behold, it was the exact answer in square 6. I didn't notice it at first, but it was most unexpected. Just wish I had tried it first as I would love to get a word in one.

I can't believe you're still getting the headaches Countess! This has been going on for a bit, I hope they let up soon. I don't get headaches that often, but when I do, they really suck.  I can't begin to imagine how awful they are for you.

The headaches seem to result from the pinched nerves. I’m not surprised by them but I would love to see them vanish…

left word. Had I not the last letter there from row 3, I know I would have caught out.

US spelling for bottom left. I had to use an eliminator in row 5 - PHONY - which helped me to guess both of the bottom words.

After row 2 (my second guess for initial eliminators), I knew what block 3 right was, and block 4 left, but I had no clue about the other words. So I played SPIKY for my row 3 eliminator to give me more information, and that gave me top left, block 2 left, block 3 left in quick succession. I also knew the equivalent blocks going up on the right (block 3 right (already known), block 2 right, top right). The bottom two words were obvious (block 4 had been obvious from almost the start), and I finished by playing them.
