WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I was pleased with quordle today.

The top right word was obvious after my first 2 eliminators and that answer made the top left word obvious.

I did need a 3rd eliminator at row 5 to help with the others.

springyzone, I almost always do these on phone. I know what a pain it is with Octordle; I’ve got my method down pat, with several eliminator words being used based on which letters are revealed, and sliding down to cast an eye on further tiles revealed.

Number 6 was annoying. I was convinced I had it at turn 4 when I typed in charm.

Wrong.

So at first I left it in the hope other words might help me solve the final letter but I soon jumped in & decided to try chary. Wrong again, but it helped me solve 7 & 5.

I guess we are all creatures of habit and for octordle, I feel all at sea on a phone as I rarely do it that way. I like to have octordle all spread out across the screen, plus I like to have my pen and paper handy. I don't know why, but sometimes writing the letters down helps me.

Plus today there are no grandkids pulling at me to do this or that in the middle of it, so I could concentrate.😁

PS I was just imagining if you were to do it on a computer screen. You'd probably have the whole thing solved in 8 every time. 🙂

My starter word for today in these 3 games was 'storm'. Seemed appropriate although it wasn't a raging success. I had also considered rainy and flood. Mind you, we only had light drizzle here and it is sunny now.

Some of these were quite straight forward (after I had used my eliminator words & had most of the letters)

Number 7 though, I would have sworn was going to be a weather word except I had already eliminated T.

It's a strange word to use but nothing else seemed possible.

Number 3 is another weird choice but I was lucky as I had the first 2 letters in place plus another 2 letters in yellow.

I suspect they are trying to trip us up with these kind of 'out there' words.
