WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

This is a word where I wished I had S&D's list of previous answers.

My 3rd word was one I have definitely seen come up in previous word games and I have a vague suspicion it may have been the actual answer in Wordle once in the past, but I am unsure. If it had been out before, then it wouldn't be the answer again was my thinking.

Dosn't matter, as it at least put me on a narrow track. Victory at 4.

Yesterday's word TOPAZ.

Springy, for the last almost 200 games, the only T-O word was TOXIC, which wouldn't have fit with your 3rd word. 

I haven't posted results for a week or so. Just slack! Have been getting most answers in 3-4 goes, although there was one where it took 6 and I was starting to really worry! Today, I went better than I have in ages. Sometimes the eliminator pays off.

God help me then if I get around to doing it today, if you get 58 and that is a tricky one!!😂

S&D, I think yesterday's 3rd guess for me was 'today'. There is no way I would normally remember except for your prompts with topaz etc

I guess 'today' is still in with a chance for wordle then if it has never been out. I must have seen it in a different word game.

And countess, I am sorry to hear you are still not that well. Yes, hay fever is a thing in any seasn, or can be. And after an infection, you often can feel drained. Feet up, take it easy. Hope you have some good books.

I didn't start solving any till turn 4. After that, it wasn't too bad, except for #8, the last word. I only had 2 vowels out for that but luckily, they were in place in green and by the end, I didn't have that big a selection of other letters to juggle!

I struggled for over an hour. I'd used 5 vowels eventually and only got one hit. My starter was my usual ADIEU. Then I went with HOLES to eliminate or add the 5th vowel. It wasn't there. I could  barely think of any words that only had a vowel in the 4th spot. Eventually, I got lucky. Only just.

Great job getting it in 4 Springy!
