WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I happened to choose a starter that was one letter away from the 3R word, so I was off to a wonderful start.

Whose fault was it that you chose an incorrect letter, springyzone? I don’t think it was a fault at all, just a bit of mischance.

My 3rd row eliminator was PIETY. It was actually a very good eliminator; I knew as a result that there were words using a word most often at the end, but in this case it was elsewhere. I also knew that P was not a final in a particular word,

This one fell into place easily today.

Octordle, not so much.

I got off to a reasonable start but then #7 took me 3 turns. None of the other squares had an answer jumping out at me at that stage. I could guess the shape of #3 but there were several possible starting letters for it. One of the guesses at #7 at least helped narrow it down for #3

But just an average day.

Not my best. It was fine until I came to row 8, at which point I was stuck. I had to play an eliminator.

I did wordle yesterday on the phone, took me 5 guesses.

By the time I got home last night I was exhausted and went to bed early and didn't come on to transfer results. The traffic home was horrendous. What would normally take 35 minutes took me 100. I knew I was in trouble when I sailed through one intersection, over the rise, to be confronted with traffic banked up for kms. I was on a one way road at that stage and stuck. A section of a major road near Fountain Gate was totally shut. Absolute chaos and every other road leading away was clogged up too.

But here I am & I have to set off at 8am again. I won't be using that road but the trouble is, the roadworks around Clyde/Cranbourne are horrendous, ongoing. Can you believe one major rd there, that connects two big roads, has been closed at either end for close on 2 years?

Anyway, that's my whinge for the day, wish me luck on the commute.

Today's wordle, not a great result but beats yesterday's. I had to use a 3rd word eliminator to try to get some idea of what it could be. I did have a few letters but it just wasn't clicking till after word 3.

Not too bad, apart from one stupid (impossible) guess at word 4 but I was in too much rush and didn't notice till straight after I clicked it. Mind you, I did think it was an unusual choice.
