WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Just musing. While you & twiggy are seeking to expose the very lowest score possible in this game, I, on the other hand, am exploring the outer limits. The very highest score possible without missing out on any words.😂

I had a bit of bad luck on #2, had an anagram of the answer.

And even on the last turn (#8), I had still no idea whether to use B or F.  Could have been either. Luckily, I chose the right one.

Twiggy? Not remotely close 🤣🤣🤣

Only once have I had an amazing score, I'm definitely not in the same league as the countess.

I actually scored 59 today, which I was reasonably happy with given it was under 60.

Huge difficulty in accessing Wordle today; I ended up having to download the app and playing it there. But there’s no bot feedback without an account, and I don’t want a NYT account.

I started with TRACE. My 2nd row indicator ended up being one of the word solutions.

I did have a false step with my final word. First letter was one of two, and I chose the wrong one, darn it.

I started with TRACE, and my heart sank. One yellow! So I played an eliminator that expressed what I thought about that.

Remarkably, the eliminator combined with the yellow (and I now knew where it should go) gave me everything that I needed.

The bot commiserated with me on the unlucky nature of having used TRACE, but had to concede that my 2nd row eliminator was superbly lucky - brilliant, even.

Thank goodness you mentioned this as wordle has been a bit glitchy for a few days for me. Sometimes it times out rather than opening. Today I did it but I just hope I saved my results as I can't open it right now!

Bot wasn't happy with my 3rd guess but loved my 4th.

I was really stumped as to what this word could be for a while.

PS I have a free NY times account on the computer but not an app as far as I know.

I don't have the NY times account on my phone.  My poor old phone would collapse if I tried to put an app on it, it already feels it is overworked & keeps telling me it is dangerously low on space. Stern warnings, as bad as Bot.

Today I was very happy with the result. Sort of felt a bit redeemed after wordle!

I tried to shake up the usual eliminator words a bit. Not that I was far out of the grrove. I tried alien/crypt and was going to do shout next but I could see what the answer to #8 had to be & I was pretty sure about #2 so I went straight into guessing at words from turn 3 on.

I came a cropper on turn 9, with word 4 as I guessed wrong but at least it was a credible guess so i didn't feel too bad.
