WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Aha! I think I have caught  our little friend out in a bit of Bot bias.

After my second turn, I had some possible solutions in mind. More solutions than turns left, in any case.

So I felt I needed another eliminator.

Now, Bot was extremely happy with my choice, don't get me wrong.

But have a look at his suggestion, which he feels is an equal 99 score.

I don't think it is.

To paraphrase what he is fond of saying, (his) was a good guess, but (mine) was more efficient. 😂

After my second turn, the first word to occur to me was wrath.
But then, I realised it could be one of eg batch, hatch, match, catch and so on.
I was hoping it wasn't hatch. The only good thing was at least latch was out of the equation!

So I tried crumb. Bot suggests climb was as efficient. He gives himselff the same 99 score.

After facing decisions, decisions with wordle, I was faced with almost the same scenario in octordle.

What are the odds?

Again, luckily, I had eliminated several of the possibles, but I still had a choice of 3 on my last turn.

I was just fortunate, I could easily have gone into the red on #1.

I don't think I made it in here yesterday. In fact I can't even recall if I wordled.

I don't think so. I was running around after grandkids & flopped into bed early when I got home.😅

I drank a small bottle of sour cherry juice before bed and slept through till after 6am. They advertise the juice as good ffor gout and helping people to sleep but I think myself it was the heat and exertion that did me in. LOL

I was surrprised to see Bot took 4 turns today. His 3rd turn was a word I was tossing up between when I made my 4th try. It was between that and the answer. Bot should take a leaf out of his own book as I decided that although the other word was a contender, the answer was a more likely wordle choice.

My only defence is that on word #3, the answer didn't occur to me as it is American spelling. Mind you, it has been out before so I should know better these days.
