WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

TRACE yielded a good result, and my eliminator ruled out any other possibility than the actual solution.

Looking at your result, what surprised me is that we both guessed a word in our 2nd row guesses - but different ones! I only solved the 2R word (your first result) at my row 5.

As I so often do, I played TRACE as my starter.

I so nearly played VICAR for my row 3 guess at 3L… but a D seemed more useful for the other words than a V at that stage. Luck.

Looking at your result, what surprised me is that we both guessed a word in our 2nd row guesses - but different ones! I only solved the 2R word (your first result) at my row 5.

It all depends on what letters are revealed on that first turn, I guess. There's a degree of luck in it.

That 2R word, I sat there pondering and feeling useless.

I had started with alien (as I often do) and had ALIEN.

So 4 letters. But I could not think of a thing until eventually I realised I had not used shout and so the vowels O & U were still in play.

TRACE wasn’t particularly helpful today. I thought it might be a 4-row day…. but my eliminator at row 2 turned out to be more enlightening than I deserved - digital help, really.

It was a 4 turn day today and I was just lucky it wasn't more!

I had an idea of the possible basic shape of the word after my first turn, but it still left quite a few possible answers.

I was lucky to get 60. I took a gamble on a couple of words. The first word had me stumped for ages as I didn't have any letters for it except one vowel.

Unsatisfying. The process, the words… no, not satisfying.

I started with TRACE, then FILMY. I could guess the first few words, but was increasingly uncertain by the time I came to row 6 (bottom left). I had my suspicions by that time that there was a lot of repeated letter usage going on, so I used that suspicion for several of my guesses.

Not many letters were left unused.
