WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Aha! That’s more like it!

TRACE as the starter gave me enough to make a guess at top right. I hesitated because my guess was by no means the only possibility - and I almost decided to play an eliminator.

However, I did need an eliminator thereafter at row 3. Luckily it was an incredibly useful eliminator, ruling in some letters and ruling out others. The rest of Octordle proceeded without a hitch.

I got it in 3 yesterday (been away)

Today, I surprised myself as I got it in two. I did have 3 letters to work with so decided to take a stab at it.

Bot wasn't keen on my second choice, even though he conceded it did solve it. He suggested another word, which had occurred to me.

I thought of about 3 possibles (there are probably several more) but the ones I thought of didn't have a lot in common as far as letters go and my choice at least had one that was repeated in a different option. So I can't see what was so wrong with it!

My most frequently used starter… There were many possibilities remaining… but I tried playing a word that’s come up twice in the Octordle-Quordle-Dordle games recently.

Even as I played it, I was telling myself it was a stupid move and I should be eliminating things.

Bot wasn't overly happy with my 3rd choice.

It was an impossible answer, I knew that, but it did cover a few letters I wondered about. I couldn't solve it in 3 without taking a wild guess, though I have to admit, the right answer was the first word that occurred to me. There were a couple of other possibilities though. (Well, Bot tells me 7 but I am not sure what all of them were)

#8 is an old friend who hasn't been out for a while.

I made a mistake on #7. I thought I had 3 letters and hurried in with a guess, then kicked myself when I realised I actually knew a 4th letter and it wasn't in my guess. Note to self: Slow down.
