WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I am very happy with this.

At the moment I’m consistently using TRACE as my starter (although I may opt for a different starter if I feel like it), but I will change my 2nd row eliminator based on the 1st row result, of course. I used PINKS - and it was perfectly suited to solving both words.

I'm getting old, countess. I can't remember what the answer was now. I can see I had A,L,I with none of them in position so I think I may have tried TRAIL.

So that gave me T___L, with enough info to see i was not in 3rd or 4th spot, so must be in 2nd spot.

With an a still to place.

The answer must have been tidal.

In this game, # 3 &4 (your second rwo words), followed an identical pattern for me till turn 5, when i tried a word which turned out to be wrong. But it was really useful.

Apart from that one mistake, it all went smoothly.

I was amazingly lucky with my 2nd row eliminator, which turned out to be correct for 2R. Based then on 3R’s first two letters and presence of the yellow letter, I could rule out almost everything other than the answer for 3R.

I had the shape of 2L, and needed only one more letter. Done.

At that point I needed an eliminator to go forward. LOUGH did help. I could solve 1R and then 1L.

3L was ready to fall into my hands like a ripe plum.

Then 4L was obvious, and 4R also gave itself up.

Voilà.
