I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Bot was reasonably happy with me today. Naturally, he had better suggestions, but all in all, I am not sure I could have solved it much earlier without a big dollop of luck.

I was actually rather shocked at the score as no way did I expect to go under 60 as this went down to the wire.
I had a reasonably good start at solving words from turn 3 onwards, but needed an eliminator at turn 8, then made a couple of wrong guesses.

Today’s Dordle was very amenable to being solved. I started with TRACE, and then played COULD. I’m glad that I did.

TRACE followed by FOUND… I could solve 4L after that, and then 4R. 2L couldn’t be the double, because of the yellow situation, so I knew what it must be.
Knowing what must be on the tail end of 2R gave me the information I needed for the word’s first two letters.
1L then fell to me, and 3R immediately thereafter. It was being a conquering army with towns razed by my forces.
Now I had Octordle on the run. Solving 1L required only a moment, and after that, 4L seemed obvious.

You might get this quickly today or you might be like Bot who took 5 turns as he went into guess mode from turn 3. He would have been better to use an eliminator. My money is on you to beat Bot though.

Now, I feel as if I have proof Octordle Bot has a few loose screws.
Yesterday, it gave me a score of 58. I had started solving at turn 3 but made a couple of wrong guesses plus had to use another eliminator and didn't solve it all till turn 13.
Today was the easiest octordle for me in a long time. By far. I didn't have to think about it, almost.
I started solving at turn 3. I made no mistakes. I finished with 2 turns to spare. Today I only got 60.

Perhaps it is weighted by the difficulty of the words, I don't know. But I am a bit taken aback that today's score isn't better than yesterday's.

That second word (1R) has been out a fair few tiems in the past. Just as well, really, as when no other letter is working in front of a certain other letter, then this now leaps to mind.
After doing this today, I have the song, "Virgil Caine is my name and I drove on the Danville train," running through my mind non stop. That's not really a hint, it is just one of the answers reminded me of one of the words in the song.
I had to look up the words of the song though. For some reason, I thought it was Bamboo train. Never made sense in the context of those lyrics but too lazy to ever look up to correct it.

My starter was so stingy that it gave me nothing but a row of blanks. I anticipated a 4 with this Wordle (which is fine… but it’s not quite as satisfying), but was lucky with my eliminator.
