WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

TRACE wasn’t a successful starter today, but my eliminator clinched it for me.

TRACE
MOULD
MELON

It couldn’t be anything else; MOULD was ideal in ruling in and ruling out.

Incidentally, the bot took 4 turns to solve today’s Wordle.

TRACE was sufficient to give me a good shot at 3L. (1 in 2.) After that, I had a similar situation with 1L, and I decided to use a sort-of eliminator (half an eliminator, half a guess).

But after that my luck ran out and I needed a proper eliminator.

CREAK <- 3L

I could have gone for a guess at 3R, but it would have been between SLEPT or SLEET, neither of which would have yielded much more to help with the rest of Octordle. I’d have been wrong with my guess as I was leaning towards “slept”, anyway… I’m glad that I decided on an eliminator.
PLING <- eliminator
SLEET <- 3R (because it wasn’t “slept”!)

From that point onwards, it was plain sailing over the mighty Letter Seas.

I was actually very happy with this.

I did run out of steam at turn 7 and needed another eliminator.

TRACE was my starter. With the final letters glowing green, the shape was clear, but I had to narrow down the vowel and initial letter at the very least.

Spoiler
I hovered between POUND/FOUND/HOUND/MOUND etc., but these wouldn’t rule out I or a repeated E unless the consonant ruled them out. I’d rather rule out or in O than U. I decided on PHONY as it’d confirm N’s being in or out, and also deal with two possible initial letters.

It was a good choice.

I agree. I had a head start given my starter.

I recall wondering about storm/stork/story.

I took a guess and was lucky actually.

I tried quordle tonight and also got lucky.

You'd think, to look at the results, that #1 &2 were my biggest challenges but I had my suspicions about them very early and left them to concentrate on other words.

I felt as if 6, 7 & 8 were repeats, although we haven't seen a dance move out for a while, I guess.

I did get tripped up with #5

Spoiler
I tried apply instead of amply
