WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Rooster time, I used a different second word eliminator to try to get a clearer picture & it paid off. I was pleased to get this in 3.

Now feather duster time.

I used my usual eliminators but didn't have a clear path. Too many possibilities.

Then I had a try at #4 with broth, which was wrong, so immediately I tried troth. Oh dear!😦

At least my 3rd attempt, froth, was correct.😂

Even on my last turn #1, I didn't know for sure if it would be squad or squaw but these days the latter is considered derogatory  so I thought it unlikely it would be used.

TRACE left too much unsaid as the starter, and I decided on FOUND as my eliminator. That helped with my first word to solve (2R)

1R - I had _OU_E, so it could have been boule, or joule, or house or louse or loupe… I ruled out boule and loupe as being less likely, considered joule briefly, but I decided to play “mouse”.

After that, 1L was obvious.

Then 4R and after that, 3R, fell into my lap.

Because 2L ended with a yellow N and had no D, I discarded lemon and melon and demon - for venom.

Aha. 3L was the US spelling for vigour.

4L - it was obvious to me that this was either elect or eject. It was hard to believe that by this time I’d not tried L at all… but in the end I used EJECT and was lucky.

Right. Octordle sequence. That’s trickier. I was lucky to get 52 for that, and I’m in awe of your 51, k1ooo.

   So, that first word must be GRATE, PRATE, ORATE or IRATE. Rather than make a guess which might leave me none the wiser, I used an eliminator which might be useful further down:
DOING
… then I closed the deal with IRATE and managed to keep solving from that point on.

Well, 2L was the low-hanging fruit here. It was a 1-in-2 chance to guess, and I chanced it.

Yes… if I hadn’t played my eliminator in row 3, I’d have had the same dilemma with that initial letter.
