WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

You might remember me saying how my computer mixes the order of posts? Well, it did it again today and one of the posts I saw out of order towards the end was this. And I also saw my reply. It's from a  few days ago. I hate mysteries, so I set out to solve it.

And what hit me today is what I missed the other day.

My second word would have been SHOUT and that showed a green O in 3rd position, so I must have always known there was no L there. And it couldn't be troll, so that must be why I thought of droll. Why I ever wrote down folly I do not know as that was never possible. Maybe that's why i crossed it out. Then grump eliminator cut out droll, so I wondered about a double O.

Springy, how did you avoid the 1L trap? (Your #1?)

My starter was again a rather unlucky one. I used a helpful eliminator but it was still a 1 in 3 choice or thereabouts for the solution.

Did you do them at all yesterday? I can't see any posts  after 13th but then again, they could be 3 or 4 pages back.

I did do wordle yesterday on my phone and I recall it was a brilliant moment for me when I tried shout for my second guess as SHO showed up in green. Plus I had a yellow E from the first word. I think the answer was shore but I guess I was lucky it wasn't shove. I didn't do octordle. Was feeling crook yesterday.

I did do wordle this morning.

My first thought was apron and I was close to typing it in as I suspected the answer would have R & O in any case, but I seem to recall apron may have been an answer a few weeks back. Or maybe I am imagining it, I don't know.
But then I thought... maybe adorn or arson. Maybe acorn. So I tried an eliminator DROPS and that helped.

This was an exciting day for me but I didn't realise it for a while.

After my  first turn (the usual), I was excited to see 3 greens in #8 but even so, I could think of 3 possible answers.

The rest of the game was poor pickings, with 3 of the squares showing absolutely nothing.🤔

So in the end, I decided to just go with my usual second word as there were no clear answers.

After my second turn, I was shocked to see a yellow O in #8, as that had not been in any of the 3 words I had thought might be the answer. It took a while before I noticed SHOUT was the actual answer for #1!
Oh happy day.
But I needed another eliminiator at turn 3 and I made a couple of mistakes on the way through.
They were logical enough but the game is sort of tricky today, or perhaps it just depends more on what letters you have revealed.
After my third turn, I had #2 pegged as possibly tarry.  Later I tried party. Wrong. Ratty-again???

Towards the end, I tried BRING for #3, knowing that it could also be WRING and sure enough, bring was wrong.
And #8 I was nervous with too, as I had it down to axion or avion but I got lucky with my first guess.
I could easily have bombed out in this game or gone to the last turn.
I am surprised my score is as low as 55, to be honest.

After my first word, there were a lot of possible answers.
I was almost inclined to just go with a guess (shade) but it still left too much open so I went with CRASH.
That more or less confirmed the a-e pattern.
So I thought-trace, brace, grace? I went with trace. Wrong. Maybe I should have tried another eliminator as it was just luck I even got it in four.

I was almost going to try SUAVE for #5 but I have a murky feeling that word was out reasonably recently?
Not that that would necessarily stop them recycling it, I suppose.
I made a mistake on #4. I had 3 greens in place -li-e.
I could think of glide and clime as possibilities. I tried glide. Wrong. Then next turn I solved it with elide. I think elide has been out before, but some time ago.
I was dead lucky to get #7 as I was very tempted to try filly, except I wasn't sure if that had been out lately as well.
