WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Off to a bad start as you can see. But after turn 2, I thought it would be out of stock, storm or stork and thought storm the most likely, plus it could serve as an eliminator.

This was a fairly straight forward game today. Mine followed the usual patter, 2 starters, guess a word on the 3rd turn.

Then on turn 4, things went a bit south.

I looked at #8 and saw I has SW in place with a yellow A. My first thought was swamp.
But before I made a move, I noticed I had 4 yellows in #1. A,L,W and T
TRAWL, I thought. And yes, it would fit perfectly. Nope, a sea of yellow.
Turns out later it was one of our trusty favourites.

There were a few possible answers after my eliminator.

I now knew it started with S. Was the T following the S? Strong possibility that the shape was ST_R_ or STR__. A, E, I and Y are ruled out, so we have STOR_, STUR_, STRO_ or STRU_, or perhaps STOUR (but not as likely in my opinion).

Roughly 1 in 6 , perhaps 1 in 5, chance of guessing correctly.

I was lucky.

Having a yellow L in second spot cut out a lot of possible answers.
So for my second word, I tried SNARL. I figured it would cover 2 new letters (S &R) plus try out L in what I thought was a likely spot. but no luck.
My 3rd word I thought was in with a good chance, MANLY. Wrong again but it solved the problem of where L had to go.

I am quietly pleased with today's octordle. It is better than usual for me! 😁

It started off in the usual way, 2 words then solve something at turn 3.

After that, I was sorely tempted to try another eliminator.

But I looked at #1 and although I only had 2 letters for it, they were green and the only word I could think of was PROUD so I just went for it.
I took a leap of faith with #3 too as I only had 2 letters.

The one I am most pleased about though is #4 (2R). Right after my second turn, I took one look at it and thought-guest or quest. I was leaning towards guest but held off and luckily, once I solved #3, I knew the answer to #4 as well.

Yes, you were a bit unlucky in where you played that particular letter, but given the words used, it was completely logical.
