WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Didn't get around to things yesterday-back on the childminding path and I was really tired when I got home and just went to bed.

Should have done better today. On reflection after finishing, I can see that #3 was obvious & I should have guessed that before moving on to another eliminator.

I also made a mistake on #7, but it was logical enough at the time.

GHOUL <- eliminator; I hoped to be able to infer S if it was present, and to nut out which vowels were in play. 
GUSTY 🎯 With U revealed and L ruled out, there couldn’t be an I, and yes - I could infer S as being highly likely. I could also see that there must be a Y.

I am really happy with this.

Turns 3 & 4 were easy but I was oh so tempted to try another eliminator soon after that.

Luckily for me, solving #5 solved a dilemma I was having with #8. It ruled out one of the two possibilities I had in mind.

I was tempted to try guessing for 4L immediately, as I had 4 yellows… but no. A quick calculation showed me that there were far too many possibilities and I’d be sure to come a cropper.

As it was, even by the time I was on that final word, and had eliminated several possibilities, I was still left with 3 possibilities. I went for Octordle’s favourite “double use of letter” strategy.

Turn 1: alien. I had a good think before I played turn 2 but there were just too many possibilities and I really needed to know if there were other vowels before I could move forward so in the end, I just played shout although I considered others, such as croup.
Next I tried pricy. I was tempted to try prone as I had the O in place and knew it had N & E, but I could think of other words, namely peony and ebony. I'm sure there are probably others too.
Anyway, 4 it is.
