WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Couple of mistakes today along the way.

I tried metro for #6 which was a reasonable try but wrong.
But early on I had #8 tagged as likely cater or water and after I guessed cynic in another square, I thought aha, must be water, without checking up or I would have realised I already discovered T could not go there.

I’m up late, having helped mum after Ichabod playfully nipped at her leg. I was downstairs, came upstairs when I heard a kerfuffle… Blood everywhere as the skin is fragile… blood all over the floor and all over the carpet, but none of that was as important as taking care of her. I used up all of the Dettol, still some antiseptic wound spray left, cloths to clean away the blood down to the last cloth I had ready, disinfected and disinfected and disinfected, let it dry, sensitive dressings applied, clothes into the washing machine, runners tossed into laundry sink (but I think they’re goners), mop and hospital grade floor cleaner/disinfectant applied vigorously, lamenting my steam cleaner being in for repair so I was faced with hand-cleaning blood from so many areas on the carpet… I’m whacked.

I don’t think I’ve got all of the carpet shampoo out. I physically cannot do any more. 😢😓 I’ve done the best I can.

So - I’ve got mum with her feet up and Ichabod told off. I need a carpet extraction cleaner, new runners of the same sort as the previous ones for mum, and a g&t.

I was happy enough with this.

The main reason the score isn't great is because I didn't like to risk a guess at turn 3 for the first word, although realistically, I was pretty sure what #7 would be, though again, there were 2 possibilities in my mind.

OMG countess, so sorry about all that, I hope your mum is okay. It sounds as if you were well equipped at any rate. It reminded me I should buy some wound spray and such.

I agree with you about that word. It was my second last one. I recall looking at it and none of the remaining letters seemed to fit anywhere so I knew I had to work with what I had and I thought.. surely not THAT? Sure enough, it was. I suppose at least it is a 'new' word. 😂 Not a cobra or a waltz etc
