WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I wasted time and turns on #6. First i tried stomp, then I tried stood. Then I left the word alone, which is what I should have done in the first place.

I can see what happened! Yes, the score is impacted with just 2 guesses that don’t get the word. Octordle is unforgiving.

I had a lot more of a hint than you got, countess, and shove popped into my mind first too so I went with it, although it could have been shore. But I figured, what the heck, if it is not shove then I will probably get it in 4 anyway.

This went along fine, I was a bit surprised the score was not a bit better as I wasn't paying attention and it had not seemed too hard.

But I see now, looking back, that I didn't solve till turn 4, so that's the problem. I went with PRICY for 3rd turn as I felt there were too many possibilities for some. #7 , after 2 turns, I had down as coast, roast, boast etc and #6 I had down as patch, match, catch, batch and so on. So the answer for that one did  surprise me.

On my second last turn, I also used another eliminator as #8 could have been waver (which I fancied and was almost inclined to go for), but it could also have been wafer (has that been out lately? I feel as if it has), wager or wader.  So I tried FUDGE to narrow it down.

After turn 2, the first word to pop into my head was light but of course, I immediately knew that was a no go as I had eliminated T.

The second word I thought of was hilly so I went with it as I really could not think of anything else at the time.

I figured if there was another word it would probably have to end in ch, so I guess it could have been zilch or filch but today I got lucky and my  impulse came in.
