I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.
I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education ๐คฃ
I started off most satisfactorily, with a word solved on my second turn. But there were too many choices & I needed to use shout at turn 3, then at turn 5, another eliminator (bicep) It was all going okay till the very end when I fell in a bit of a hole with wrong choices. #1 drove and #7 skate.
The extreme wasn't my day either. Score was 69 and missed one word (juror)
I had the same feeling of two many possibilities. There were times when I thought Iโd need another eliminator, but I took it very very slowlyโฆ
I had it narrowed down to stake or skate. I am sure we saw skate come out some time recently? But luckily for me, I worked out #2 towards the end, and that showed me where the T went.
The rescue was unexpectedly easy today. Usually I need to use an eliminator somewhere, just to cover some of what they have not, but today they just all fell into place.
With chill, because it has extra moves, I use it as my fun game, where I will type in a hunch, even though I know it might not be 'it'. Today a couple of hunches paid off.

With this one, I really thought the U would end up in second place. Words going through my head were rupee/puree or maybe an er ending, such as buyer. Third word was duper. After that, my first inclination was under, but of course it couldn't be that.
This came about because I could only figure out one answer for #2 after my first turn, so I went for it and it was correct.
I felt pretty chuffed with that, to be honest, but expected to have to use shout next. But lo and behold, #6 seemed obvious too.
Today they seemed to roll on, with one leading to another, although all the time as I went through, I was vert conscious I had not played O or S.
I in fact tried to play astor for #5, to overcome that, but the system did not recognise it as a word, which is the only reason I did not make a mistake along the way, if I am honest.
