I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

This was filled with sirens trying to lure me onto the rocks. If I’d just leapt onto guesses that had a good chance of being right, I’d have come to grief. I played carefully, solving words that looked far more difficult to guess than others which looked easier … but which actually would have fooled me into a wrong choice.

TAKER 🎯 could have been tamer, taper or taxer; I just decided to have at it.
LOGIN <- eliminator (as nothing revealed itself)
DRUID 🎯
PLAID 🎯
JUICY 🎯
FORUM 🎯 The most obvious rock. I wanted to play “faith” for 3L, but knew it might also be “waist”, so I looked at other panels and saw that 1R must be forum (unless the word was decidedly more obscure than I thought likely). That would rule “faith” in or out as a bonus.
WAIST 🎯 - yes… waist, not faith.
TWIST 🎯
SCANT 🎯 I’d wanted to play “chant” here, but “scant” was also possible. I left it until last, hoping either H or S would come up in the meantime. Sure enough… “waist” showed me the way.

I had 4 yellows for 1R after my starter, but this time the odds against guessing correctly were too high. I had to play an eliminator.
Again, though, it was necessary to play with great caution.

Straight after turn 1, I had a feeling the yellow would be in second place & the word would likely end in R.
At first, all I could think of was viper, but then.. tiger? diver? fiber? (I know, I know) etc
So second word was drift. Doesn't cover everything but it gave me some hints. I jumped on tiger, unfortunately.

I just gave myself a scare with octordle as I did it a few minutes ago & just went to copy the link and up came a blank board. NO!!!! I got 52 for that game and wouldn't trust myself to get it again, but luckily I realised I was in Chill (which I have not done) and there were the results under classic. So all is well with the world.

On the whole, now I look back on it, it was not hard but I did take a bit of a guess on turn 3 for #3 (2L)
I could see it could easily be abort or adopt but I thought the latter more likely.
Then the words more or less fell into place.

I am happy with today's score, anything under 60 is a good day, as far as sI am concerned, but I did get caught out on this.
On #6, about turn 6, I was convinced it was QUICK. I was shocked to see it was wrong. What else could it be? I thought, can't be juice, no E. Then it hit me and I got it.
Quick wasn't a total waste though as I had been fancying TAMER for #7. I was convinced that would probably be the answer, but quick saved me a mistake there.
I guess I was always fated to make one error, one way or another.🤣
