WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Spirit willing, flesh weak. Didn't get around to octordle yesterday.

Did play some board games though.

Grandson (aged 5) likes snakes and ladders.

We played a few games where I lost (I was happy to lose but it was an honest game each time, he just had some luckier turns).

Grandson was concerned though, So.. he swapped counters and told me to try the blue counter as that was a lucky one.

After I lost yet again, he stopped and said, " Wait on. I'll see if I can find an easier game for you." 😂🤣

So it's not just octordle where I do badly sometimes.😅

Anyway, onto wordle.

I was tempted to go shout next but was drawn to snore as it had the yellows plus some other letters I liked.
I was happy with the result. It took me a while to work out what the answer was, I am satisfied I would never have thought of borne for turn 2.

When I finish a game, I sometimes have a look back to see where I went wrong or if I should have guessed something earlier. In this case, I don't think I could have brought the score down any lower as there was no really clear cut answer after my first turn.

Now this one did cause more soul searching, in that the 60 score is because I used 3 words in a row to try to get some clarity. At least it isn't because  I made mistakes.

After my first turn, my initial thought was actually coven for #3, but it could have been other things such as dozen,  sheen, seven etc so I wasn't prepared to guess wildly at that stage.
So I used shout next.
I still wasn't sure of any, I kept looking at #8 and thinking Dutch/hutch but I could see there was no T so i left it. Never thought of duchy till later.
Then I used fudgy, which helped a lot. I really should have solved #1 first though as that was a sure thing, whereas #3 could have been woven, I now realise.😁
So I am lucky the score wasn't more than 60!
