WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wordle

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education ๐Ÿคฃ

23 ex.jpgThe funny thing with this game was that after turn 2, I didn't feel I had much for #4, but I wrote down a couple of possibilities. The first was fizzy, but then I thought-or maybe dizzy. But I wasn't game to go for it at that stage.
The score is punishment because I used another eliminator half way through. I went for forge instead of fudgy as I already had Y exposed plus I really wanted the R in the mix.
Then on #7 near the end, I tried brand instead of drank. Ah well, here's to tomorrow!

โ€œNerdyโ€ seemed likelier than โ€œnervyโ€.

I was almost inclined to just go for it, but we know how well that usually works out for me.
A moment's reflection and I could see that score, spoke, smoke were all possible too. Maybe more, I don't know. Well, I did think of spode but deemed it unlikely.

Third word was cramp.

24 cl.jpgThere was a definite element of luck involved in this. Not so much in guesswork but more so in the order I solved them.
#3 was obvious but I had toyed with stash for #1. Glad I decided to solve #3 first.
After that, they fell into place, with possible choices eliminated nicely as I went along.

This was one of life's disappointments.

I knew I was in trouble almost immediately as after my first 2 turns, there was nothing I could see that was a clear cut certainty. With hindsight, I should have worked on #8 more but I didn't think of the answer till after my third turn.

Spoiler
24 ex.jpgSo 3 eliminators to start with. It wasn't looking good.
Then I went and made a mistake on #2 with stage. I had managed to eliminate some of the other possibilities so took a risk. At least it helped with #4.
Even at the end, #5, I was hovering between flick and click, so things could have been worse today, I could have been in the red.

Thankfully 1R (clump) and 3L (choir) ruled out moist and hoist for 2R, so that I was left with joist. In turn 2R (joist) ruled out train for 3R, and I was left with trait.

ELIDE ๐ŸŽฏ

F and V - these were the ๐Ÿƒ letters on this Octordle.

Firstlyโ€ฆ part of my reason for using MINTY as an eliminator was to rule out an S_ATE pattern in 1R. I still had to guess between stave and stake when the time cameโ€ฆ

1L - well, that M from the eliminator stopped me from trying a mistaken AMPLE.

2L was simply a guess; I donโ€™t know why I chose to try BUNNY rather than FUNNY, although I rejected DUNNY on the Australian colloquialism basis. At least I knew it couldnโ€™t be FUNKY; 1R had ruled out a K.

3L - I might have felt โ€œpoor F; I rejected you on 2L so letโ€™s give you a chance hereโ€. Who knows!

Howeverโ€ฆ 1R also ruled out K for 4L, so no BRAKE; it had to be BRAVE.

Iโ€™d planned to play OLIVE for 3R. The lack of V as evidenced from BRAVE ruled it out, and it was obviously ELIDE.
