I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

BLOOM 🎯🍀 could have been gloom
DINGY 🎯🍀 could have been windy, kinky
WAXEN 🎯🍀 could have been waken
MOVER 🎯
I simply had to guess for 4R.
Ditto for 2R, although I did think kinky somewhat unlikely.
And again for 2R. It was blind luck. However waxen did at least rule out W for 2L, and the mower/mover dilemma was solved.

Extremely annoyed at myself with this one.
I made a mistake that was entirely avoidable, because I just overlooked including a letter I had already exposed in the word.
SpoilerIt started well, I felt quite pleased to get an answer on turn 2.
But for turn 3, I used shout.
That helped solve a couple but for #7 & 8, I had to hold off as too many possibilities.
I was thinking store, stove, stoke, smote for #7.
Then for some reason, further down, once the K was exposed, I jumped on it and thought, has to be smoke. Completely forgot the T for some reason. Too hasty.
Then at the end, was #5 going to be local or vocal and was #8 batch or watch.
I tried to come up with an eliminator to cover v, w, b but couldn't think of one.
In the end, I figured vibes would do the same job.
🫤 It was a tricky one, and the missed letter was just an added misfortune to an already challenging situation.

I hope you're feeling a lot better today, Countess.
I'm in a bit of a mood as I messed up again today. Just like either yesterday or whenever. Stupid mistake.
Plus, and this is really irritating me, my computer is playing up. The sound seems to have gone, though it chimes when I turn it on, just won't work for anything else. And even worse, my snipping tool is being a complete pain and not working properly. It cuts out before I have finished. I can work around it but I suspect my computer has seen better days.☹️
Now here's the classic. It might help to know that I did the extreme version first today.
Not happy.

Today's extreme presented no challenging moments. it was smooth sailing from one answer to another.
And I was able to scoot through quickly as I wasn't plagued with multiple choices (or not that i know of).

DECAL 🎯🍀 could have been camel, or fecal (US spelling of faecal) but latter was unlikely
DODGE 🎯
OUTGO 🎯
CROWN 🎯
SHALE 🎯
BEEFY 🎯
KNEED 🎯
STRIP 🎯
I opted for decal at 1R, as it’s an Octordle favourite.
That gave me dodge (2L), which then pinned down outgo (3L). Outgo ruled out double O for 4L, so it had to be crown.
Crown ruled out W for 4R, so it must be shale.
At this point, 1L could be strip or skirt. 3R could be index, fiend, needy, kneed. But … although I had only a green E in 2nd position, 2R had to be beefy. Nothing else would fit with the letters still available. So… I played beefy.
Immediately that ruled out index, fiend and needy for 3R. It had to be kneed.
Kneed ruled out K for 1L, so it had to be strip. Voilà! Done.

SNACK 🎯
SCANT 🎯
CLEFT 🎯
PLEAT 🎯🍀 could have been bleat
AFOOT 🎯
TURBO 🎯
SCOWL 🎯🍀 could have been scold
SWELL 🎯
I saw 2R – either torso or turbo – and put that to one side for additional information.
In the meantime 3R was clearly snack, and that also revealed that 1L was scant. 1R had to be cleft. 3L was a 50/50. And 4L was obvious. By now, of course, I knew 2R was turbo.
All went swimmingly until 4R. I’d hoped that there would arise some indication of whether scold or scowl was correct, but no such clarity occurred. However, I was also thinking about 2L, which could be shell, smell, or swell. If I played scowl, it would help with 2L as well.
Luckily 4R was indeed scowl, which moreover yielded a lovely little W at 2L, and the whole finished in the most elegant way:

[…]I am getting sick of beefy.
You and I both, springyzone … beefy is popping up too frequently.
Feeling still exhausted … congestion still present (but less) … coughing still problematic … These things are very tiring and play havoc with getting any real sleep. But it’s getting better.
Hmmm. Re your sound on the computer, have you tried selecting a different device for playback and then reselecting the correct one again to set it to default? This can sometimes kick your audio into working…
