WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wordle

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education ๐Ÿคฃ

This ran smoothly enough, but not quite as smoothly as the classic, as I needed another eliminator part way through.

Spoiler
25 ex.jpgI suppose #2 could have been scoot, but I fancied sport more.
I was also unsure a bit on #3, locus or bolus. So a bit of luck there.

But then I hit trouble.
#1 could have been a whole range of words such as jazzy or gawky, baddy, daddy and so on.
#4 I was torn between dandy and nanny, with no clear preference.
#5, glass or flask

So.. I used that old favourite, fudgy. Job done. The surprise answer today for me was #1. If I had had to choose blindly, without fudgy to help out, I would have gone gawky, followed by jazzy.

Re: WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

Ah, looking at yours for yesterday has refreshed my mind.

I did wordle and octordle on the phone but only had time for one and couldn't recall which it was, but must have been the extreme.

I got the wordle in 3 as I had most of the letters.

The extreme wordle, not so great as I made a mistake part way through. I know I tried raven. The annoying thing is, I actually did think of maven and dismissed it as unlikely so I was hopping mad when it turned out to be 'it'.

Here is today's wordle.

๐Ÿคฃ๐ŸคฃHaha, I just went to retrieve my results to copy the tab and up came the screen and on the top it said 'admire puzzle'.๐Ÿ˜‚ I've never seen that happen before. I had to go in and 'admire' it before I could hit the "see results' tab.

๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŸฉ

I did this a while back, maybe about 6.30am? I took a look at the position of the yellows and decided it might be a 2/4 vowel pattern but

Spoiler
_e_it
The first thing to come to mind was relit, which obviously it could not be, considering I had eliminated L.
So I thought, Oh I know, got to be remit then, can't think of anything else offhand. And quickly entered it and got the result I fully expected.
But then a little later, a thought suddenly came to me.. I wonder what other 27 words countess might be able to come up with though? And some came to me. refit or befit or hang on, merit. Or debit.๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Had I thought of them earlier instead of rushing in like a bull in a China shop, I would have used a third eliminator. Not sure what, exactly, maybe brief.
So... today I was very lucky!

A most satisfactory result. I had to work on solving #8 but I suspected there weren't that many choices if I could just work out the pattern.

Spoiler
27 cl.jpgWith #8, I at first assumed a vowel would have to go in 3rd spot but nothing seemed to work. Which meant a vowel was probably in first spot, so got there eventually.
The rest fell into place though #2, I was hoping it was not blare.
I don't think I would have guessed #5 except for the fact I uncovered the M. That's when it clicked. American spelling.
