I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

The final letter of the eliminator was yellow… and that narrowed it down.

The eliminator brought this right down to three possibilities: muddy muggy pygmy. At worst, I’d have this in 4 moves, but I thought I’d likely solve it on the third row, muggy being a Wordle preferred word.

2R (inter) and 4R (phone) were immediately solvable after the eliminator.
The P from 4R (phone) gave me 3L (scrap), which in turn gave me 2L (skimp). I could see only booth for 3R.
Now I looked at 4L: grief or dried or fried. 2R was deter or utter. I had a better chance with 2R (and my gut instinct was deter), and as a bonus the D from deter would settle the 4L question as well. Luckily deter was correct, and that gave me grief.
Finally 1L could only be jelly (unless I included welly in the possibilities, which I thought unlikely as it’s British abbreviation/slang).

First word was a 50/50 – I had to go for it, surely!
Then 3R… stunt or stunk. In Britain and Australia, we’d only use stunk as the past participle, but in the US stunk is used far more frequently, instead of stank for the simple past tense. Gut feeling… I played stunk.
1L - N and L being ruled out, it had to be leapt.
3L - P and K were ruled out, but it was still another 50/50… shill or swill. I thought swill unlikely.
2L - grrrr. Another could-be-this or could-be-that. I thought pasty the least likely, and pasta the most likely.
4R - Thankfully there was only one possibility left.

A 2-row victory! It could have been beach or peach, but gut instinct said “leach”. If I’d used plumb as an eliminator, there would have been no doubt… but I felt luckier than a punk in a Dirty Harry movie.

The first guess was a risk; exact was perfectly possible and just as likely as enact. It didn’t help me either, as none of the other words had an N.
So… eliminator needed. Given the revealed letters so far, I was of the view that either P or B would feature, as well as D and G. L seemed likely also. I had to sacrifice I in the interest of more consonants… and decided on golps.
That gave me 1L (pleat) and either glade or glaze for 4L. Lucky guess -> glade. 2R had no S, 2nd letter would surely be H after the C, so it must be chafe. Thanks to the D from glade, 2L must be decor.
Although I disliked it, 1R must be campy. The M gave me 3L (promo), and all that was left was 3R. It was either mower or mover, so once again had to take a leaping 1 in 2 guess.

The surprise answer for me today was probably #7 which I thought earlier on might be misty, but I got busy solving the obvious ones first & it sorted itself out.
Superb result! 🏅🎖️🥇🏆👏🏻🥂🍾🎇
