WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Oh well, we can't win them all.

Spoiler
1 ex real one.pngI found this a bit tricky.
After my first couple of turns, I could not see any spot that had a clear cut answer. It felt too risky to guess.
So I went for a 3rd eliminator, pricy and it gave me quite a bit actually, I can't complain. It cleared the way nicely.
But at the end, I was faced with #6, mower or mover, #7, glade or blade.
And only 3 moves left.
If I had had to choose, I would probably have thought maybe mover and blade, though I fancied glade too.
So, eliminator bewig.
Just squeezed in on the last turn.

Ohhhh, by the skin of your teeth!

Everything I could think of was either ruled out by a black or by the position of a yellow.
So I tried tacit to try to work out vowel positions.
After that, it was easy.

2 cl.pngThere was only one time it felt risky and that was on #5 (probe or prove) but I looked at the space and thought.. oh well, it can't be prone, aha probe. Then as I was typing it in, I saw the V next to the B but decided to go ahead anyway.
In hindsight, I should have been solving #1 first as that was a 100% guess,  not just a 50/50.
My problem is I don't always look at every spot before I make a move, I tend to start to do that, then get caught up along the way.

Why does this always happen to me? Caught again right near the end with no clear way to know which answers to go with.

Spoiler
2 ex.pngAlien gave very disappointing pickings but I had hopes that shout would even things up and it wasn't too shabby.
I was going along quite nicely till the end.
I had hoped #2 would sort itself out. It was quite obvious right at the beginning that it would be a job of work. I was left with a couple of possibilities at the end, shame or shape. I felt no tingle of premonition.

And #5 was even worse. catty, batty or patty. Or tatty! Thank goodness fatty and ratty were out of play or I would have risked all and gone for ratty as they usually love that one.😂

That was 6 contenders though and only 4 turns left. So I used an eliminator, bumpy.

I should have used bicep as eliminator. Ah well, bumpy still worked. Lucky. Too late I think, probably need to go to bed. Just finished a coffee so that probably won't help.
