WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education ๐Ÿคฃ

I am a total idiot, I should never have gone for this straight off.
I looked at the first word and thought... Hmm, ai is probably together. I know, it must be waist! Plus if it is wrong, it covers S/T. What else can it be?
And I rushed in with it.
I am now thinking, dairy/fairy. How did I not think of them earlier?
I definintely would have gone dwarf or some such eliminator second had I given it any more thought.

I was going along okay for a little while, but I was obsessing over #2, bully or bulky.  #4 fever or fewer.
#6 beast or feast. #8 flick or click.
I was on the wrong track for most of them.๐Ÿ˜‚
At least I only got #2 wrong (had not thought of burly), but that solved #6 (had forgotten about yeast as a possibility) and now fewer and fever were both out of the running as well. At least I knew then it wasn't flick.
So I got there, but not fast.

6 cl.jpgThis one, some of the spots I had to think about for a while, even at the start.
I was leaning toward puffy for #4 but knew puppy was in the running, so solving kappa first was a bonus.
And I knew scamp was a possibility for #5 but I liked scarp more. Ah well, you should be right with that one, although it is an unusual octordle today in that none of the words contain R or T.

Yesterdayโ€™s:

Wordle 1,631 2/6

๐ŸŸจโฌ›๐ŸŸจโฌ›โฌ›

This is one of the weirdest results Iโ€™ve ever encountered. It felt inevitable, dreamlikeโ€ฆ as though I had played this before and knew the answer.

This makes no logical sense. But from the moment I saw the yellow T and yellow A, I was absolutely convinced that the solution was waist.

I can trace this to some extent to a recent Octordle. (The link below.) But in no way does that explain immediately guessing from those two bits of information.

The eliminator was not the best; I wasnโ€™t very happy with the sparse results. However, I had enough to be able to guess 1L (basic), and the B gave me 1R (burly). With the help of L from burly, I also had 3L (place). Also from burly, I had a Y not in 5th position for 3R, and it couldnโ€™t be anything else but yeast.

Still benefiting from burly, I had U and L added to the O and G in 4L; it had to be mogul.

Now came my first dilemma: 4R. I knew it was either flick or click, but nothing had popped up to give further information. It had to be a guess.

Ditto with 2L: it was either plaid or plain. There was nothing I could do but guess.

At least with 2R, there was no other possible answer.

That made two of us yesterday, then.

I don't know why, but that was the only word clanging around in my head too.

It looks as though I had a clear run after using my usual two starting words and that is what happened, but I did spend some time agonising over whether to use scout or spout instead.

First thought was bless/blest or flesh.
But then.. maybe close/clove or plume or elide.

So I threw my hands up in the air and just went for the usual.
I rather fancied flesh, if the truth be told. Never even thought of flute till it was inevitable.

I felt pleased to solve spree #2, as till then, I had been hesitant to try #8 abide/afire. My first thought was actually abide, before spiel jumped out at me in #4, but after thinking about it, I realised afire would also fit and let's face it, they have liked that one a bit lately.

At the end, it was between match, catch and watch for #3. I sort of wish it had also been between those and patch๐Ÿ˜‚ as my eliminator was wimpy.

7 ex.pngI was going along okay for a while.
I had a moment of fear when I tried sadly for #7 as I wondered, sally?
But that was as far as I could go out on a limb without blowing it.
I was faced with
#1 cuter/utter
#3 brute/truce
#4 month/notch (I have faced that one before)
#5, one of about half a dozen, the usual suspects.

So I used cramp as eliminator.
At the very end, I was still faced with shave/shake and I liked shake more but really, just a blind guess.
