I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I was concerned when I only got one yellow. I think the US gamers will struggle with this one.
They might indeed.

After my second turn, I suspected the yellow would go on the end and the first word that popped into my head as a possible answer was one that would be quite commonly used here in Australia (a word starting with sh) but then I thought-nope, these are Americans setting the words and that isn't one they use.
Koala looked far more international in comparison. 😁
So today I jumped the right way.

The first word sort of suggested itself mainly because there were so many other letters that definitely weren't in it.
Having not a single letter show up for either word after my first turn was a bit of a downer.

The hardest for me was the bottom right, even though I had most of the letters. But then I remembered that these puzzle setters love dances.

It's a straightforward game today, where solving one usually helps a lot towards another word.
Beware #4 as there are several letters that could go in second position (if you've pretty much solved the rest), so hold off till some contenders are eliminated.

I went with the first word that came into my head. Then I realised there could have been plenty of other words it could have been had I not got the 4th letter correct.

I used SPINY as my starter.
Well! It was so tempting to make a guess… but that combination started so many possible words that I knew it would be folly.
My second row eliminator, therefore, held the consonants between which I must choose. It gave me the necessary letter, and I deduced the remaining letter from that.

I once again found myself in need of an eliminator word in row 6, but once I had that first letter for top left, I could go ahead.
